Before members of the Writers Guild of America walked off the job Nov. 5., Dave spoke out in support of his shows’ scribes while on the air. Dave described producers as “cowards, cut-throats and weasels.”

Unlike Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show,” CBS does not own the two night-time talk shows but pays a license fee to Letterman’s production company to air the chatfests. The network, however, ceased ponying up to Worldwide Pants since the shows’ writers, members of the Writers Guild of America, have shut down production. The last new show was Nov. 5
